The Funky String Band is a dynamic three piece acoustic outfit featuring the masterful fiddle playing of the charismatic Angus Grant and the quintessential mandolin playing of the "string wizard" Luke Plumb.  These two also feature in the legendary Scottish group Shooglenifty.  Peter Daffy provides the driving rhythm guitar and powerful vocals of the group.  Haunting Airs and rousing jigs and reels are punctuated by old time blues, country, rock, folk and jazz tunes.   A feature of the band is the timeless quality and musicality of Luke Plumb's compositions.  Funky String Band puts its stamp on songs from Robert Johnson, Doc Watson and Jimmy Rogers to Randy Newman and the Grateful Dead.
